What
drilling tools to use for your projects? A drill is a power tool that creates holes in materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and concrete. It works by rotating a bit at high speed, which cuts through the material. Drills can be used for a variety of tasks, such as hanging pictures, assembling furniture, and installing electrical wiring.
Chamberlain offers a variety of drills (
power tools)designed for different purposes:
- Corded drills: Powerful drills that are plugged into an electrical outlet. Ideal for heavy-duty tasks such as drilling through concrete or metal.
- Corded hammer drills: Drills designed for drilling through hard materials such as concrete and masonry. Use a hammering action to break up the material for easier drilling.
- Corded variable speed drills: Versatile drills that can be used for a variety of tasks. Allow you to adjust the speed of the bit for different materials.
- Sub-compact cordless impact wrenches: Powerful, lightweight drills ideal for driving screws and nuts. Also useful for breaking loose rusty or corroded nuts and bolts.
- Cordless SDS Plus rotary hammer kits: Powerful drills designed for drilling through concrete and masonry. Use a special type of bit that inserts into the chuck without the need for a key.
- Rotary hammer drills: Powerful drills designed for drilling through concrete and masonry. Typically more powerful than SDS Plus rotary hammers, but also heavier and more expensive.
- Impact drivers: Cordless drills designed for driving screws and nuts. Very powerful and can drive screws into even the hardest materials.
- Cordless impact wrenches: Powerful, lightweight drills ideal for driving screws and nuts. Also useful for breaking loose rusty or corroded nuts and bolts.
- Drywall screwdrivers with autofeed: Cordless drills specifically designed for driving drywall screws. Have a special mechanism that feeds the screws into the material automatically.
Advice before buying and using drills:
- Consider the type of work you will be using the drill for. Light-duty tasks (hanging pictures, assembling furniture) can be done with a corded drill or cordless drill. Heavy-duty tasks (drilling through concrete or metal) require a corded hammer drill or rotary hammer drill.
- Consider the power and torque of the drill. Power and torque determine how easily the drill can drill through different materials. Hard materials (concrete, metal) require a drill with high power and torque.
- Consider the features of the drill. Some drills have features such as variable speed, reverse rotation, and a built-in light. Choose a drill with the features that are important to you.
- Read the manual before using the drill. The manual provides important safety information and instructions on how to use the drill safely.
Wear safety glasses and gloves when using the drill. Be careful not to overload the drill. If the drill is struggling, reduce the speed or apply less pressure.
